Today there is no country where the rate of unemployment is 0. In fact, everyone knows someone who is unemployed. Unemployment is a global issue and its causes can be attributed to psychological, economic, biological, political and sociological factors. At the same time it is also relatedly associated with gender, age, race and geographical elements. Unemployment can be caused by many things including death of a worker (i.e. natural disaster), lack of skills among workers, companies not having enough money to buy goods or services from other companies and technological changes in the work place. This article will enable you to understand the various causes of unemployment, how to reduce this problem in different countries and how to prevent it.

ESTIMATE OF UNEMPLOYMENT:

There are many ways to measure unemployment. The most common is the World Bank’s “unemployment rate” which looks at the percentage of people who are unemployed and seeking jobs. Unemployment is a difficult problem for the employee and a hard one for the employer. The World Bank estimates that there are 224 million unemployed people in the world. It is not all about those people who lost their jobs or were laid off but also those who could not find any job at all. The world's nations host over 765 million people who are currently unemployed. This number is likely to rise up to 870 million by 2022 as the United Nations projects that unemployment in developing countries will rise by 3 percent per year, while it will remain almost stable in the developed countries. More than one billion people living in the world's nations are not able to find jobs. The global unemployment issue is one that all of us should be concerned about.

UNEMPLOYMENT HAS HARMFUL EFFECTS:

The main problem of unemployment is that it takes away a person's job and income. This leads to many people losing health and social roles. The solution to this issue is to provide a choice for people who want to work but can't find jobs. There are many harmful effects of unemployment. First and foremost, it's a very stressful experience for those who have lost their jobs. They have to find new employment in addition to continuing with the old work and hoping that they will be able to do so without losing their old clients as well. It was found through research studies that stress has some health consequences including weight gain and higher blood pressure.

Unemployment is a very dangerous and destructive factor in any economy. It is associated with misery & deprivation and can lead to many other social and economic problems. Where employment is low, the level of savings tends to be lower, which in turn leads to lower investment activity and a decline in output, income and consumption. Employment also tends to put pressure on prices as demand increases more rapidly than output capacity. Unemployment is a major cause of economic instability and global financial distress.

CAUSES OF UNEMPLOYMENT:

Unemployment occurs when there is a lack of demand for workers or goods in the market. A worker or company may be unemployed for a number of reasons but most commonly it is due to a lack of demand for their output. Unemployment arises when there is un-met need for vacant positions. In the labor market, there are many different possible unemployment outcomes: some workers will get a new job; others will give up looking for work and stop actively looking; still others will simply decline in their participation in labor community. Unemployment, a condition in which workers are without a job or have been unable to find a job in recent months, is caused by a number of factors. Although there are many potential causes of unemployment, one major reason for it is that there simply aren't enough jobs available for all the people who want them.

The reasons of unemployment are infinite and can be directly related to our emotional, mental and physical health. Some people may face redundancy while others suffer from mental illness or learning disabilities. People experiencing these circumstances may have difficulty finding employment, especially if they have a criminal record or previous experience with drug or alcohol dependence. There are many reasons for unemployment and a lack of jobs. Those who wish to obtain a well paying job should take steps toward fulfilling the requirements of their future employer. The first step is to present yourself in a positive manner, which can be done by clothing well-tailored business attire and wearing make-up or hair styles that fit your personal style. The main reasons for unemployment include: 1. Economic recessions 2. Skill shortages 3. Declining industries and jobs 4. Information systems changes  5. Technological upstarts  6. Changing demographics (in retirement)  7. Lack of qualified workers.

HOW TO REDUCE UNEMPLOYMENT?:

Unemployment is a major issue faced by many people. There are various ways to reduce unemployment including un-announced visits to employers, conducting interviews with the unemployed, reviewing and increasing chances of apprenticeship opportunities and implementing government programs that provide work opportunities in under privileged areas. Here are some ways to reduce unemployment: 1. Find jobs at free places 2. Encourage businesses to hire people with a certificate 3. Work for firms that have openings  4. If a person does not have a stable job, he / she should find another job in order to earn income.

Visit businesses in your community and ask if they are looking for more employees  4. If you are not employed and can not find a job, seek out an employer who can use your skills. If you're looking for a job, try searching in an environment that puts potential employees at ease -- like your campus club or around your neighborhood. There are thousands of jobs out there and you'll find one that will be the right fit. It's important that governments should take an active role in ensuring a steady flow of trade and commerce.
